Description

Yamazakura is the product of Japanese distilling company Sansanokawa and is relatively new to the portfolio. Sansanokawa has been in business since 1765 making sake and schochu. It was not due to the Japanese whisky boom that they ventured in to producing whisky. They first start distilling this spirit in 1940.

Previously exclusive to Japan, Sasanokawa recently teamed up with 'Les Whiskies du Monde' to expand their distribution. This blend is reportedly composed of four malt whiskies as well as some grain whisky.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Warm copper, mixed florals, salted nuts.

Palate: Lots of grains, black pepper, a hint of vanilla sugar cookie on the back palate.

Finish: Brief, spicy, and a dash of vanilla.
