Hakushu is the Japanese connoisseur's choice. The distillery was built in 1973 and is set amidst spectacular pine forests close to Japanese Alps.

A massive step up in quality from the Hakushu 12 yrs, this 18yo is amazingly well-defined (as we've come to expect from Japanese whisky) with deliciously rounded fruit and cereal flavours

Tasting Notes (Dave Broom)

Nose: Decent intensity with vegetal (wet banana leaf)/green plum notes. Tropical notes mixed with dry hay and flowers. Hint of toffee and crisp oak. Slightly acidic, yet sweet.

Palate: Direct with decent grip. Finer in character than the 12 with similar levels of sweetness but this has more toastiness and better length. Silky.

Finish: Sweet. Toffee crisp.

Comment: This is best neat. Shows a clean progression of flavours.
