Suntory Pure Malt “Hokuto” Limited Edition 2004. Aged 12 years, single malt of Hakushu & Yamazaki.

"Hokuto" was created and named to commemorate the birth of Hokuto city in the Yamanishi prefecture. An excellent marriage of Hakushu and Yamazaki key malts, this whisky brings out the best of both distilleries. This 12 year old pure malt vatting adopted the "bamboo charcoal filtration" method, the result of Suntory's pursuit to create an "easy to drink" whisky.

It was launched in the market in June 2004 and production came to a stop in late 2009/early 2010. Due to its popularity, it has become increasingly scarce and limited since then.

Nose: Fresh citrus, strong lime notes, musk melons, floral, white peach, tropical fruits like guava and papaya, woody gentle oak, sweet honey scent, vanilla, melted marshmallows, light smoke, fluffy cream.

Palate: Velvety smooth, creamy and lush.  Sweet lime, nutty, crisp oak, concentrated lime syrup, pineapple juice, soft spices, unripe bananas, cacao nibs, caramelized toffee, white pepper, malty.

Finish: Medium, warm, dry. Mellow mint, nuts and oak aftertaste lingers.
